Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of this website?

Our mission is to provide well-researched, accessible historical content that highlights significant events, figures, and movements from both mainstream and lesser-known perspectives. We aim to support educators, students, and lifelong learners in deepening their understanding of history.

Where does your information come from?

We rely on academic sources, primary documents, scholarly articles, and reputable history texts. Whenever possible, we cite sources and provide reading lists or reference materials to encourage further exploration.

How can I help?

We love to hear from people who are willing to help address the disparity in the history of the African Diaspora. We are one of many organizations, and you should support your local museum, library, or archive. Feel free to send us a message, and someone will give you additional information.

Can I use your articles or videos for school projects or teaching?

Yes! Our materials are available for educational use. Please credit the website and include a link back to the original content. For larger uses—such as inclusion in textbooks or formal curricula—please contact us for permission.

Is this website affiliated with any academic institution?

No, we are an independent educational platform. While we maintain academic standards, we are not officially tied to any university or historical society.

How often is the content updated?

We regularly update the website with new articles, videos, and learning resources. Major sections are reviewed at least twice a year to ensure accuracy and relevance.

What is this archive?

An archive is a curated collection of historical documents, photographs, audio, video, and other cultural materials. Its purpose is to preserve, share, and provide public access to valuable records and resources. We tell the stories from multiple archives around the world.

Do you cover only well-known history topics?

No. While we cover major events and figures, we also focus on lesser-known histories, marginalized voices, and underrepresented perspectives to provide a fuller understanding of the past.

Who creates your videos?

Our content is produced by a team of historians, educators, researchers, and video editors committed to creating accurate and engaging historical storytelling.

Can I embed your videos on my website or blog?

Yes, as long as the video is shared through official channels (such as YouTube or Vimeo embeds) and is not altered in any way. Please credit our channel or website when embedding.

Do you collaborate with historians or experts?

Yes. Our Chief Historian, AJ Cade, has connections throughout the field of history. We consult with historians, educators, and subject-matter experts during our research and production process, especially for complex or sensitive topics.

Are your videos suitable for all ages?

While most of our videos are created with general audiences in mind, some topics—such as war, civil rights struggles, or historical violence—may include mature themes. Viewer discretion is advised, especially for younger audiences.

How is your content funded?

Our videos are funded through a mix of advertising revenue, sponsorships, merchandise sales, and viewer support through platforms like Patreon. This allows us to keep content freely accessible to everyone.

Can I donate?

Yes! Please check out our Patreon Page and become a subscriber today!
